EPIC Talks: Stakeholder Engagement and Co-Creation in CLEWs Nexus Research

📅 4 May 2026 | 1:30–2:30 PM GMT (3:30-4:30 PM CEST)

Water, energy, and land resources cannot be managed in silos anymore. Climate targets and immediate development needs don’t always align, and that tension can slow progress on both if not properly managed.

In this session, Tumaini John (IHE Delft) explores how sectoral policies, climate action, and development goals align in practice across East African countries. Erik Laes (VITO) then draws on evidence from Kenya’s Tana River Basin, where nexus analysis uncovered some policy synergies and far fewer trade-offs, to show how policy coordination and climate resilience can be built within existing institutions.
